Overview

The 2009 Mercury Sable is a four-door full-size sedan offered in Base and Premier trims. The Sable is an attractive-looking sedan that delivers a quite, smooth, and refined ride. A four-wheel independent suspension and electric power steering provides an enjoyable and crisp-handling driving experience. Its cabin is packed with a huge accommodating back seat and many advanced technologies, including the one-touch moonroof and voice-controlled Sync System which allows for seamless voice-activated operation of iPods and cellular phones and entertainment system. For 2009, stability control is standard for all models, reverse parking sensors and satellite radio are standard on Premier models and an optional Voga Package has been introduced.

Power and performance

The 3.5-liter, Duratec, V6 engine is the powerplant that delivers 263 horsepower and 245 pound-feet of torque. Paired with a six-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission, the engine provides effortless acceleration. The available intelligent all-wheel drive (AWD) system provides enhanced traction in bad weather conditions. The AWD is fully automatic and instantly delivers traction to the wheels when wheelslip is detected.

Body and styling

The 2009 Sable gets a smart sophisticated look with a sleek front end, a sculpted hood, and a multi-piece satin-aluminum waterfall grille. 17-inch, 7-spoke, bright aluminum wheels are standard on Base Sable models, while the Premier models get standard 18-inch wheels. 18-inch, 7-spoke, chrome clad wheels are optional on the Sable Premier. The 2009 Sable offers standard and optional facilities including heated leather-trimmed front seats; front row bucket seats; 60/40 split-folding spring-assisted rear bench seat and fold-down front passenger seat; command seating providing a higher view of the road similar to an SUV; premium sound system; voice-activated navigation system; dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control; and more.
